Article order in JA Content Listing Module

Hi all.
I wonder if it is possible to have a 2-level ordering of the displayed articles in JA Content Listing Module in JA BLockk template.
More specifically I want to be able to pin as first article showing in a Content Listing Module a specific article (untill I decide to pin another article) and then all the other articles to be ordered by created date (or start publishing date or modified date).
My first thought was to make the specific article featured and set the ordering by date. However this way the ordering by date is overriding the featured article (meaning the ordering by date is applied equaly to all articles). I also tried to set ordering by Featured articles order, but this would not work either).
Another workaround I tried was to set ordering by date modified and then, everytime I published any articles, to open and simply save the article I want to be pinned, so as to apear first - but this is not optimal.
Ideally I would like to first show the featured articles (by date descending) and then show the non-featured articles (by date descending again ). This way I would control what is pinned by making it featured.
Do you have any suggestions?

I believe a potential solution is to introduce a new feature that allows users to pin the first article. However, this feature will necessitate customization for the existing module.
