Can I have a "Pre-Homepage" to ask people to sign in?

Is there a way to show a "pre-homepage" to sign into the site? I don't want non-members in my website.
Homepage has a special meaning in Joomla and I just want the greeting page to only show as the first and not seen again.

Yes, this can be done using Joomla’s built-in Guest access level. You don’t need any additional extensions. Here’s the approach:

1/ Create a landing / greeting page and set its Access level to Guest.
This page can include your welcome text and a login module.
After login, users will be redirected automatically to the real homepage.
2/ Set your main homepage and other site pages to Registered access, so they are only visible to logged-in users.

How would you get to the site? www.thesite.com? Or www.thesite.com/loginpage?

I think I understand. By having all but the greeting page as Registered forces the Public page to be shown with www.thewebsite.com although it is not the declared Homepage..
