T4 update: what should we do?

Assuming one wanted to stay on J5, specifically the new 5.4.0 (at least until the templates and related extensions are updated), what should one do regarding T4 upgrade?

In another thread, @saguaros recommends not installing 2.5.0_RC on production sites; now I see a RC1 is being suggested.

Does the suggestion to stick with 2.4.7 still apply?

For the record, I've tried a local update with 2.4.7, and everything seems to be working fine, although the update check didn't recognize T4 as ready for 5.4.0.

So, what do you recommend, @saguaros ? Should we stick with 2.4.7 for now?

The new version for T4 framework will be released soon which can work well with J5.4 and J6, kindly wait for the new update from us 😉

Before seeing this post, I noticed that Joomla was offering 2.5.1, so I updated.

I also updated ACM and JA Extension Manager.

Do you think I could risk upgrading to J6?

I tested the upgrade locally to J6 and wanted to share it with you.

The system asks me to disable the BC plugin. Once disabled, the front end wasn't visible.

However, the back end continued to work. I upgraded to J6 anyway, and everything went well. The front end is now visible correctly.

Before proceeding, please update JA ACM, JA Extension Manager, and JA Masthead.

In my case, the template used for the test is JA Trip and it seems to works despite it didn't receive any update for J6.

I have a little more faith in Joomlart for the future. However, I must say that most of us signed up in 2017/2018. And obviously, we have works around based on T3. And what I think are the best Joomlart templates are based on T3.
Please @saguaros make sure these templates are also upgradeable to J6.
And go back to being number one on the market.
We will remain loyal customers if you proceed in this way.

I know, I was advising anyone who wanted to upgrade to J6 to update those three extensions first 🙂
