J5 version of S5 Curb Appeal not fully hiding Component output

In the layout tab, I have selected the home page in 'hide component output'. While any content I have published as a featured article does not appear on the home page, it's showing an empty box where that content would appear if it were not 'hidden'.

I can login now, the component block is already hidden but the div outside is still there, if you hide on this homepage only, may I suggest using css rule to hide it for now?

Okay yes, I have an extension installed that will allow me to assign css to specific menu items so I've used that to hide it on the Home page only.
