T4 framework package for Joomla 5 does not install to Joomla 5

I've been away from Joomla and web design for about 5 years now and decided to get back to it, Joomla being my choice as usual.

After installing Joomla 5, I came to get the latest Framework which is T4 for Joomla 5. (t4-framework-for-joomla-5.zip)
First error when installing as instructions state, though the instructions on Joomlart website dfoesn't seem to cover T4 for Joomla 5, is as follows:

"JInstaller: :Install: Can't find Joomla XML setup file.
The Joomla package cannot be installed through the Extension Manager. Please use the Joomla! Update component to update Joomla."

It seems that it appears to be a Joomla package.

So I go to the Update component to try that to see if maybe it'll actually work and get this error:

"The uploaded package file "t4-framework-for-joomla-5.zip" looks like it is a full installation package of Joomla which can only be used for creating new sites. You can only use the Upgrade Package to update your site.
Check the official Joomla download page for the Joomla Upgrade Package of the right version."

This is either a screwed up incompatible framework install file for Joomla 5 or Joomlart embedded Joomla 5 into the download which makes it useless to me and anyone else that has an EXISTING Joomla site.

Anyone else run into this and if so, what was your solution?

Late last night I decided to see if the T4 package and the Purity IV package, I liked Purity III when I used it and wanted to get Purity IV, would actually install as standalone Joomla installs as my Joomla 5 would indiciate they would when trying to add these.

They both started as a Joomla 5 installation. Purity IV went all the way through installation of Joomla 5 with Purity IV termplate, creating the database and only has a JSON error after installation when clicking on the buttons to either load the front end or backend.

The T4 framework started the same way, got the installation for Joomla 5, went through the process to create the database, but that install failed with errors and never completed the database creation.

Joomla 5 correctly saw both of these as installation packages of Joomla and can't be add-ons to Joomla. With an existing Joomla installation, I can not use these, I like the T4 framework and Purity is the starting template I like to use.

My experience with Joomla goes back to version 2 and my first online use was using Joomla 3 and T3 framework and Purity III to start and then built my site off that.

It would appear that I might have go back to older versions and try to upgrade to Joomla 5 and T4 and Purity IV. But, if they are actual install packages and not extensions, then I don't see that being possible either.

Anyway, though I'd post an update of what I have tried so far on this issue. I'd like to start fresh with the latest versions of these so I can bring my website back online.

Update. I have things working now, but the T4 Frame work for Joomla 5 still needs to be looked at as it failed with several errors on my original attempt, twice.

I ignored that version and used just the system plugin. I have T3 and T4 along with J5.3 on my test server, working fine. I can use an older version of a template I like with T3 and newer with the T4. I'll most likely disable the T3 as the newer templates I do like far better, Purity IV is wroking as well. Maybe re-label the "for" Joomla files to "with" Joomla.

Consider this closed for me.
