JomSocial upgrade questions

I'm looking for any upgrade doc related to migrating from JomSocial 4.8.3 to 4.9.4. I'm currenlty at PHP 8.2.18, MySQL 5.7.23-23, and Joomla version 4.4.10. Do I need to update my Joomla version before upgrading JomSocial?
I currently use the JomSocial Socialize template. Is this template supported under 4.9.4?

You can backup your site first and install the latest version of JomSocial directly into your site, it can work well with Joomla 4.x

And JS Socialize template version 2.3.0 can work well too.
