Create a child template using T4_bs5_blank as the parent?

When I go to System > Site Templates in Joomla! 4.3.1, and open T4_bs5_blank Details and Files, I'm only seeing the option to copy the template, not create a child.
I can see that Cassiopeia is recognised as a "parent" template, but this is missing from T4_bs5_blank.
Is it not possible to create child templates using T4_bs5_blank?

Hi Peter,

You're right, only Cassiopeia template supports child template. Basically, the child template will be another folder including the custom style of users.

With T4 Bs5 template, we support the local folder in which you can put your own override for layout/style of template: /templates/t4_bs5_blank/local/ (you can create this local folder if it doesn't exist now)

Thanks for that info.
If I want to use two variations of the template for different sections of a site, how do I stop the CSS files from applying to both variations?
I know that I can use Tools > Edit Custom CSS, but the styles placed in there aren't being picked up by JCE Content Editor, so it's not an ideal solution...

Hi Peter,

I think you can create theme color for each template style and assign to the page you wish.

Go to Backend >> Template styles >> select a template style >> Theme Color >> clone the current 'default' theme profile >> setup Colors / Palettes you want and assign to associated page.

Any confirmation on if this suggested custom CSS override technique using "themes" is working? Wanting to know best practices for leveraging the T4_bs5_blank as a starting point for a new project. Would prefer to follow most current standard future proof conventions. Not sure if the T4 documentation is up to date, seems dated. I'm using Joomla 6.0.0 and T4_bs5_blank 1.3.0 with T4 plugin 2.5.1. Where can I find best documentation for latest theme, t4 plugin and Joomla6? Thanks!
