J4.1 w/Purity_iii - where is the proper folder for the favicon?

I've tried placing the favicon.ico file in the following directories and it still won't display:
root directory
/images

/media/system
/media/system/images
/media/templates/site/purity_iii
/media/templates/site/purity_iii/images
/media/templates/site/purity_iii/images/system
/media/templates/site/purity_iii/images/ico

/templates/purity_iii
/templates/purity_iii/images
/templates/purity_iii/images/ico
/templates/purity_iii/images/system

Could someone please point me in the right direction?

yes, I tried it there. It did not display, however ...

... when I changed the filetype to .png it displays! Curious, I thought it needed to be a .ico file.

dbonitsky Yes, it should be .ico extension, could you share the URL + super admin account + ftp account? I will take a look.

You are correct, but if you look in the directory, the file is "favicon..PNG" If I use "favicon.ICO" it doesn't display.

On a different issue around the similar problem, on my add-on domain, source-ventures.com, I'm not able to get the favicon to display at all.

saguaros I already tried. It did not display. This is what prompted me to open a support issue.
