Export Guru course to a new install

We would like to create a new website with a new Joomla 4 ad GuruPro 6 install.

Q. 1: Is there a way to export 150 of the courses (Guru 5) we already have on another website (Joomla 3 + Guru 5), to that new website mentioned above?

Q. 2: Is Guru 6 compatible with Joomla 3? If so, can we just update Guru version 5 to 6?

There is no such export option for this as Guru course associated with different other parts
like students, Teachers, media , quiz and report. In this case i suggest you use same Guru version on both sites first.
copy the same media on new site.
First install Guru on the new site and replace all guru tables from older site to new website.

So instead of going through all that trouble, is there a way to use the SCORM files on the same server but a different domain? Maybe by changing the folder reference in one of the Guru files?

SCROM package are file that has to be uploaded but its data always fetch from its original source. When you move the course to new site it must have the exact same file path and setup to get the output.

Let's use an example:
Our SCORM files are at globalsparks.com/media/scorm as uploaded there by default when setting up a course in Guru.
But if we create a new domain, on the same server, called peoplesmarttraining.com, when setting up the SCORM files Guru will automatically upload the SCORM files to the default directory peoplesmarttraining.com/media/scorm - so that means we will need to upload all 150 Scorm files to that new domain (about 7.5G😎, creating a duplicated copy of each file on the same server. We want to setup several other domains using the same SCORM files, so each time using up 7.5GB of storage for the same file, over and over again.
Is there a file within Guru where I could change the default directory of the scorm files ( to globalsparks.com/media/scorm ) so we would use the copy of each Scorm file for all domains?
BTW, there are several companies that provide SCORM files that are viewed by a website, but running on another server. Looks like it is done through an API. Is it feasible within the Guru structure (I mean having a custom API created by a third party)? Any other idea from your side?

This case work only when you use the same backup on new site, as all data that saved in the database is linked with same path as already created.
Issue is not from Guru side as you as you not using the same site.

If you are moving complete website on new server it works normal.

I'm doing another attempt to this SCORM situation.
We tested "Dispatch files" from companies such as Rustici ( https://cloud.scorm.com ) and other similar service providers.
The original SCORM files stay on their server. They provide a Dispatch file for each course for us to use with GuruPro just like a regular SCORM file. So when GuruPro calls up the SCORM file, it is actually getting the content from a third party server (cloud.scorm.com for example), not from the server where the course is seen (our domain).

We asked our Joomla expert to create the API or whatever other system is needed to create those Dispatch files so we can duplicate educational domains without having to import the whole SCORM file for each course, over and over. A dispatch file is very small compared to the full version.

Here is the message our IT person asked to send you:

"we use gurupro in our joomla site and now we want to use scorm cloud integration for my different domain. For that i need some guidance from your end. As per current flow i am able to add scorm file in each lesson but what i want is, instead of each domain store those scorm file, we use one server and from that scorm file link i added in each domain lesson and base on that work. Is this possible?

Please take look on our requirement and let me know if any possible way to manage that. Thanks."

Hi,
Instead of using scorm. You can use media type url and treat it as iframe. It's simpler.

I tried the media type url with Wrapper, and the SCORM course comes ups just like it was on the same domain.

Still need additional testing on the reporting site.
