Featured articles missing from home page

This problem comes and goes, but I noticed it again yesterday and it is annoying because there are three featured articles which are related and one of them is not appearing on the home page.

I've set up a copy of my live website (https://www.tallandtrue.com.au/) in a staging environment so you can log in and make changes without affecting the live website. The staging environment is password protected - use the Joomla Admin user name and password to access the environment via browser:

The first attachment shows a screen shot of the three related articles in the Fiction category of my website, Both Sides of the Story - A Council Flat, Bosnia and Westminster:

The second attachment shows these articles listed as Featured in the Admin backend.

However, Both Sides of the Story - Westminster does not appear on the home page, in the top featured section, or the Fiction section below it.

As I said, this problem comes and goes, other articles have not appeared on the home page in the past, I have had a look through the forum, but haven't been able to work out what's going wrong nor how to fix it.

I'm hoping you can help me with this problem.

Could you update the correct URL to access backend of your site? I tried with /administrator but seems not correct one.

Sorry, @saguaros, I forgot I've got Akeeba Admin Tools enabled and it uses a secret parameter at the end of the admin URL.

I have disabled Admin Tools on the staging website so you will be able to access the backend without the parameter: https://staging.tallandtrue.com/administrator/index.php

I have also unblocked your IP address.

Apologies again, I thought I'd covered everything!

Thanks, Saguaros. I little more info I have from today might help. I published another article on the live website (https://www.tallandtrue.com.au/) and the missing article (Both Sides of the Story - Westminster) suddenly appeared. However, another article that had previously displayed is now missing from the home page Fiction section (Both Sides of the Story - Bosnia).

I wondered if this problem could be due to the banner ads in the home page sections? Perhaps the routine is skipping over the featured article to display the banner ad?

Somehow I missed this thread, I'm so sorry for this.

I checked the home page of your staging site and saw that it's showing Featured articles with most recently first order: https://prnt.sc/qfv3b9 It's working correctly.

It's also working fine in Fiction page: https://staging.tallandtrue.com/fiction/

Hi Sagurous, like you I've been caught up with other things and haven't been able to respond to you.

The issue remains with on the home page of the staging website -- the article, "Both Sides of the Story - Westminster" is missing from the Featured and Fiction sections:

However, it does appear in the Fiction category (FICTION menu item):

https://staging.tallandtrue.com/fiction/

As per my follow up post 18 days ago (https://www.joomlart.com/forums/d/26996-featured-articles-missing-from-home-page/5), when I published another article on the live website, the missing article suddenly appeared on the home page:

https://www.tallandtrue.com.au/

But, another article that was previously displayed, "Both Sides of the Story - Bosnia" disappeared. You can see this article on the staging website.

Hi Sagurous, just following this up as the thread seems to have been missed again.

Any thoughts on what might be causing articles to not display on the Featured and Fiction sections of the home page? (Links, user names and passwords in previous posts.)
