Yes the no. of hits will be in the code it only used to hide the hits.
To remove it completely open file "/html/mod_articles_popular/default.php" in template "ja_magz_ii".
Find and remove this code

 <dd class="hits">
            <meta itemprop="interactionCount" content="UserPageVisits:<?php echo $item->hits; ?>" />
            <?php echo JText::sprintf('TPL_COM_CONTENT_ARTICLE_HITS', $item->hits); ?>
        </dd>
