Quark Template & ALL other Gavick FRONT END EDIT not working

We made a sandbox site to test this issue, and installed the latest version of Quark from your downloads section just now, and installed that.

The front-end editing feature is absolutely horrible, absolutely broken on the Template's side. You can see this by going to the TESTING ARTICLE url that we shared in the credentials box.

When we get to this URL, (the testing article), and login using the menu option, and then click "Edit" on the article icon-bar (print/email/edit/etc) , either

1) The screen freezes or
2) The screen goes completely blank

But we get absolutely nothing else.

*Most IMPORTANT
Since this is a sandbox site, we request that you log everything you do to fix this problem, so we can implement the changes on our sites. We are not allowed by contract to give out admin login credentials to any 3rd party, and so we require that all modifications to code in the sandbox site be duplicated by ourselves. Thank you for your undestanding and time to describe how you fix this.

I added some JS in the Excluded JS/CSS option in template settings, it should be working fine now.

This is ALMOST amazing! ... If you click on any of the modules EXCEPT for breadcrumbs, it freezes the site ... (We clicked on one of the modules thinking it was an article edit button, and that's when we noticed that issue) ...

Is there a way to make this completely work with Articles & Modules?

(The breadcrumb module seems to allow editing, but we haven't tested all occurences).

Hi,

It looks like you're using an old version of this template, try to backup your site and update the latest version of GK Quark template for your site.

Remember to backup site first.

We used the Quickstart from THAT DAY - This whole thread started with us first creating the Testing site with everything fresh from your downloads section. Please adjust your advice to reflect this fact so we can continue moving forward. Thank you so much!

Also - All updates (should?) be able to get done with the admin credentials you have been provided yes? We need to have you perform everything that's necessary to correct this so we can duplicate it. We're highlighting this because you originally asked for those credentials so we don't want to touch the site without knowing exactly what steps you can, and have performed with those credentials.

First, we asked YOU to do the repairs and report back to us so we could repeat your solutions. Asking us to do extra work when it is clearly your template with the issues, is problematic and makes us perform duties which you became responsible for when you advertised a product and took people's money for that product.

We are fine attempting basic suggestions, but you should be aware of little things that you as a template-manufacturer need to be aware of, like your template manager UPDATE SCREEN not loading any information when the user clicks, such as the attached screenshot we just made.

We will perform this update manually and report back to you - But we informed you that we used the QUICKSTART from YOUR downloads page that day , which presumes that it has the latest updates. Are we mistaken to believe that your quickstart packages also contain the latest template update?

So two issues on your side appear to exist:
1) Your template manager in the newest quickstart do not have the latest template included in them.
2) The template manager in the quickstart does not load any update information to the user.

There might be more issues existing, we hope that you respond in a timely fashion to us testing this latest template install and reporting whether or not we are able to edit the modules from the front end.

As we have expected: Your 6 days delaying us and not helping except to tell us to update your template, DID NOT WORK.

After clicking the update module icon, AFTER updating your template, we get this picture, it's been there for 10 minutes doing nothing. The template simply freezes, which is the exact same symptom that we reported originally.

An additional effect we noticed AFTER updating your template from the downloads section: The "Update" tab in the template GUI has disappeared. There is no longer a tab indicating any place to determine what the update status is regarding the template - Not that this worked to begin with (it simply gave a blank screen without any information), but it causes concern that now it is totally gone. Is the template update feature something that has changed in your design?

THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM: Front End editing for Modules is NOT WORKING.

Please, whatever you can do to help us correct this is greatly appreciated .

Hi,

Somehow, the JS files I added in the option: Templates > Advanced Settings > Exclude JS/CSS file are removed.

Pls add them back:

scrollreveal.js , vmsite.js, tinymce.min.js, vmtabs.js, jquery.ui.autocomplete.html.js, k2.frontend.js

It will work fine then.

I think this is a good lesson in this problem solving method that we have tried on this forum and that many of your customers deal with. When two or more agents are trying to solve a problem separately, and with many days between check-ins, new problems can arise which make everything even more complicated and frustrating.

I think if this works it will be an extra lesson that *When Recommending We Reinstall Template : We should have been told that the changes would be destroyed (the JSS modification).

I am also wondering if the CSS override and other settings will be destroyed at Template updating.

If you could answer those questions when you get a chance:

1) Why is the UPDATE section in the Template Manager gone after update
2) What settings / CSS / etc will be destroyed on Template Update
3) How to prevent modifications / etc being destroyed when your templates are updated.
