webcentric As suggested here, You may inform your hosting provider to provide the server error log as currently, there is just blank white screen with no error to be shown after switching on to PHP 7x which could have related to some extension/code causing problem henceforth enabling us to trace the root cause

Also, Does the blank white screen still appear if you switch on to PHP 7x with default template assigned ?

(The earlier error had been coming from configuration.php fle)

aman204 I have provided the info to my host provider. I will provide the feed bacl when they reply.

Also, I tested the temp site IP address and the blank white screen also appears when I make that change.

I found the issue. Its the OSE Security plug in. When I turn off the plug in, the site will change to php 7 and you can view the front end and use the admin side. When I change plug in back on the site goes blank. So the OSE is not compatible with the php7 upgrade.

So I either need to upgrade the OSE or run the latest version of php.

Nice to hear that you managed to resolve the issue yourself by troubleshooting further and finding that 3rd party extension had been the culprit.
