Order jomsocial events by city / town

Hi,

I would like to use the jomsocial event part but there is no way to order the events by country/city/town...
I could use the categories and changed them to the cities but i would like to keep them also.

Is there a way or something planed to make it possible to use jomsocial events as a real events component with possibility to order the events by cities, to search them by date...

how about if added location in event search condition? here the code:
edit /components/com_community/models/events.php at line 277 replace the code
from

if (!empty($search)) {
    $extraSQL .= ' AND a.' . $db->quoteName('title') . ' LIKE ' . $db->Quote('%' . $search . '%');
}

if (!empty($search)) {
    $extraSQL .= ' AND (a.' . $db->quoteName('title') . ' LIKE ' . $db->Quote('%' . $search . '%');
    $extraSQL .= ' OR a.' . $db->quoteName('location') . ' LIKE ' . $db->Quote('%' . $search . '%') . ')';
}

after this you can search the events by location name. hope this can help you.

Saguaros : I would love to have some implementation to make that part of jomsocial better and kind of indepedent cause for now, i will have to use jevents at the same time just for that feature.

albertusputra : I will try your hack but the problem is complicated than that...
The location can be everything, the best would have to create a single select list for cities as for categories.
Because as it is now, you can have several time the same city with different spelling like london / londan/ lundon... and then the search won't work...

i thought there were a proximity search also but i can't find it...

Thank you for your answers, i will try all your suggestions but i have decided to use cities instead of categories as we can order by categories.

But now, the big problem is there is no calendar and no way to order by date...

I am quite sure there was a calendar before in first version of jomsocial events...

Anyway, would it be possible to have a "filter by date" as in Easysocial ?

Because if you want to see what are the events for next week-end or next week, it is impossible if you have thousands of events...

Ok, sorry, i did not event test jomsocial on my site, only on demo... just see that there are events calendar module and JS Nearby Events Search module already on the jomsocial package, will try them on tomorrow.

But my question about filter by date is still available please.

You can find the addons module here
It contain all the addons of Jomsocial that are developed by Jomsocial team.

For JS Event calender module it comes with Jomsocial, you can open module manager > create new module > JS Event calender > http://prntscr.com/jelqz4
