JA Mega Menu Updated - Simplied & Easier than ever....

Please note that the following information/guide is the preview of the new Mega menu in the new version of T3 + JA Purity II 1.2 which will be released sometime next week.

Dear Members,

Are you new to JA Mega Menu? View Mega Menu is action on JA Purity II Template. Configuring JA Mega Menu is now easier, with development of plugin (JA Menuparams) and changes to T3 framework files. To view how the mega menu backend looked like till now, check out the old mega menu userguide thread HERE.

With this update / upgrade, menu titles are saved of additional codes / text into them, the configurations are made easy. Please look at the first screenshot below for the setting options.


1. JA Mega Menu Extended configurations (below), within the menu manager of Joomla!.






2. Adding slogan line made easier (below).




Enter the text into the Description field and that is reflected in frontend as Slogan Line.






3. Frontend and Backend of 3 column layout possible with Mega Menu.

• Please note the Parent Menu item. (backend settings given below). The parent item is loaded with column settings and width settings.
• Immediate sub-childs are loaded with Groups option set to Yes, So as to give them styled standing in the columns.
• Not shown here, but it is possible to add slogan line to sub-sub child items too.

• Please note, that to load the module in menu item (3rd column), separator is used.
• Old way of configuration of mega menu is also highlighted in the below image.

3b. Backend Setting for Parent Item (in this case Explore Menu Item)

• Here we set the number of columns, column widths.
• Column 3 width is set to 360 with use of code colw3=360, to adjust the vimeo video module.
• To set equal width for each column, "Submenu column width" option be used instead of current one used in below illustration

3c . Backend setting for first column.

• Apart from adding Slogan line. Only the Groups is set to Yes.
• Setting Group to yes, makes it stand in column with heading styles applied. You can play with this option to see its effect.

How to Update / Upgrade :

1. All the templates using JA Mega Menu will be updated and download files will be updated and notified via Blog Announcement.
2. Updating the template files and installation of this plugin, will not remove the old configs. However, once the menu items are edited and saved, then the parameters in the JA Extended configs will override the values in the Menu Title.
3. Just move the configs from the Menu titles to these new fields and you are all set.

This is a life saver. Configuring the mega menu seems pretty easy now and no more worries about sef urls containing odd codes.
