I've submitted a ticket to Support but haven't received an answer in the past few days and am not able to access the private Phplist forum so pardon me for posting here.

I got the new component and had a successful installation.

I tried to get past the DB Config screen but am able to connect to database.

I need to get this working soon please.

Thank you,
JSG

do you mean you are not able to connect to the database? if so check all your login info, and make sure you have the right passwords and user info, and also the correct table names. The easiest solution is to create a new DB user and password and assign them to the 2 tables (PHP_list and Joomla) with all rights granted.

I created a new user db called bridge (and password), so now it's jsg_bridge. ANd I assigned ALL Priviledge.

I added it to the jsg_plst1(Phplist) database and jsg_joom1 (Joomla) database. Keep mind that I did it via Cpanel and MySQL.

I returned to the PHPLIst component and tried the combinations. Still can't connect to database. Config is writeable.

So what's the exact combination it should be?

PHPList Database Server: localhost
PHPList Database Username: jsg_bridge
PHPList Database Password: (Password for jsg_bridge)
PHPList Database Name: jsg_plst1
PHPList Database Prefix: phplist_

Is this correct?

Hi deafbiz,
Please note:
- PHPList Bridge 1.0 should be installed as independent script NOT as a component
- Have you installed PHPlist before installing PHPList Bridge 1.0?

Hi deafbiz,

Yes, I've installed PHPList and Joomla both on same webhost a long time ago. Therefore 'localhost' should work.

First download was the software that I installed via FTP. When I couldn't get it to recognize the database, I filed a support ticket. They gave me the component software.

I installed the component in Joomla Admin and it was a successful installation.

I am still not able to connect to the database so I can't get PHPList Bridge to work!

I need to get this to work!

I don't have this program, but people should keep in mind that "localhost" is not always the right information to use.

For example network soutions does not use the term localhost for their mysql. They have an ip you must use. I spent hours before I found this out.

So don't always assume that localhost is the correct info...
