Hello,

I'm a bit confused about "users" in joomla.
How can i explain?

When visitors of your site fill in the login form, they get an email, they confirm, and then the account is created. When the vistor then logs in, he can submit weblinks, he cannot submit news.(this is the situation on my site, i don't know this standard)

The website i want to build, i would like to have two sorts of users:

1. employees who may want to add news, promotions ...
2. visitors, customers, who want to register to access pages which are published for registered users.

How can i configure this? I could delete the menu items of the usermenu so they cannot submit items, but then the employees are will not be able to submit items.

Ayone an idea how i can configure this.

Thanx very much.

The best bet is to read the Manual at http://help.joomla.org - It should go through access levels.

In short, Joomla has 7

-Public (guests)
-Registered
-Author (can submit content)
-Publisher(can publish submitted content)
-Editor(can do the above and edit content)

-Manager(can do all the above and access the administrator for Content)
-Administrator(can do most stuff apart from template management etc.)
-Super Admin(Do anything)

Hello MuffinDCC,

Thanks for your reply.
I understand the different levels in users, but i'm a little bit surprised that users who have only the registered level, can submit news (at least, on my website i'm trying to make)

I removed the submit links in the usermenu, so for the moment the problem is solved, but in the future i would like to have some users to submit content.

I cannot find what went wrong, or is it a bug ?

I'm using joomla 1.0.12

I you have any idea ??

Greetz.

Mabo.

What was the access level to the Submit News menu item?

Hi MuffinDCC,

Indeed, the access level for submit news item was "registered".

I will change this to special.

Thanks very much for your reply.
