I'm hoping someone can help me with my FTP problem. I'm stuck since I am unable to edit any files until I get this sorted.

I can download but cannot upload any of my template files. Using FileZilla, I get the message 'critical transfer error' and '553 Rename/move failure: Permission denied'. I've tried also using Dreamweaver and my control panel.

I've checked the permissions and the settings are 755 for folders and 644 for files. I thought I'd set to 777 to see if that solved the problem but it seems I cannot change the permissions on this folder. I can on others.

Hoping this makes sense and that someone may be able to help.
Thankyou!

I use JoomlaXplorer and have never had a problem uploading or downloading files. If you have a new hosting account you might not have the proper permissons in place to use your existing setup.

Thank you, but this is not a new account; it is a new add-on domain. But, I have no trouble with most files; just the ones I want to change!
I am able to change the permissions in the control panel too, but not for the templates folder.
Are there some default settings which override any manual changes?
