well, since you asked, I would like a cheer leader base template using pirple and black as the main colors....a little different from you guys, but it may be a challenge;) Maybe with a rotating banner?

The style of http://web.de is really nice looking, especialy the Ajax-Tabs and Boxes on the right side. Its a very clean design but also very professional.

I personally enjoy web2.0 as well, however more so like ajax and stuff. I love ajax!
