Hello,
OK, I installed a Joomla 1.5.3- JA Teline II QuickStart. It worked. Then installed the new JA News Component
The set configuration:
Set default home page: Yes No
Enabled JA News Component: On Off
The created a Front Page Default called: JA Teline II Default
JA Teline II Default Default default headline group content blog 13,14,8,12,1,5,9,11,6,3
Selt is as default, and saved.
Nothing happened when I checked the Homepage. I unpublished JA News see if something shows up, nothing. So I republished JA News. No change. to the original JA News layout; the added two new sections added to the Home Page JA News , 1, and 3 did not show up.
Am I missing something?

Hi cgc0202
Please go to administrator-->Menu and take a look at the default home page.
You must surely menu of JA News component already to set default

Thanks hanhct,
I forgot all about this. I did not know I placed it in one of my sites, and when I saw the JA News default in it the other night, I thought it was something else. I just upgraded to Joomla 1.5.4. It did not show up immediately when I was doing it. I moved it to Main Menu.:)
So when you responded yesterday, it clicked to me what it was. It needs a lot more work based from what I have seen of the layout.
Are you familiar with it now? I was working on the Sections, and I want to make it look like the JA Teline II Homepage Demo, but I could not make it work.

Hi folks,
I see that this refers to the new component, but I am a bit concerned about the JA News module. Does it work - dare I use it in a commercial environment?

Limeyard.
The JA News Component is not ready yet.
There are several versions of the module. If I were you, I would start with the ones that others found to be working already, as part of the QuickStart kit, if you are doing a fresh install.

Thanks for the response Cornelio. So some versions of the module are considered safe. That's good 'cos I'm hoping to use it for a community/magazine idea that I am thinking about. When I get access, that is. I signed up 6 days ago and I just noticed the money left my account yesterday, so maybe not too much longer to wait. ;) Thanks again.

Hi Limeyard,
Don't use the word "safe", that is another issue. For community/magazine, I prefer the Joomla 1.0.x-Teline II because it is more stable.
Many users use the Joomla1.5.x-Teline II, and had some problems, many are user induced problems, some are actual bugs. The latest release by Hainn, Joomla 1.5.3-Teline II v1.4 has corrected many errors, but not all. So, it is a lot better now.

cgc0202,
I have recently uploaded a site to play with using J!1.5.4 and Ja-Purity, but it will obviously not do the job. Apart from other considerations, I need the functionality offered by Ja-News. I expect by the time my ideas start to take shape both Joomla! and Teline II will have matured.:o Thank you for the tips.

Limeyard,
Do you have any link to show? If everything went well, that is a good start. I am familiar with the Purity layout.

Since I first posted this, I felt confident enough to test the latest Joomla 1.5.3-Teline II v1.4 with many of the fixes included (not all unfortunately). It was updated and working with Joomla 1.5.4 and later updated to Joomla 1.5.5.
There is an issue with respect to the use of Joomla 1.5.5, caused by the Joomla itself, not the template, I think. But, thanks to a member, she found a work-around the issue. Basically, the "work around" involved changing the Category alias with the Category ID.
