Need Help : to play music/video on my site requires Permision?

Hello All,

i have very basic question, i am developing site for music lovers, i want to keep music files like mp3, rm, etc on my server and want to run it from there. to do this , do i need any permision? if so where i need to apply to get it?

please guide me

As I understand it you do, although I should imagine that thousands of people just go ahead and do it without thinking about copyright.
