Hi,
Firstly the templates produced at Joomlart are superb, Joomla just rocks with them.
So how about a Sports oriented template? I am yet to find one anywhere, so I have adapted one the J's.
I certainly need a sports template as I am sure do other members. The websites I either maintain or create for others are sports related.
Some Key points to a good sports template (IMHO)
A good sports site template needs readable clean text format plus sound image placement and how they interact with the articles.
Whilst the Joomla standard articles component has a very powerful {mosimage} tool, the control over the actual image and its alignment is limited.
Forums (message boards) are also mandatory, so ensuring that Table headers, and the alternate window backgrounds are in keeping with the theme is important.
The following items would be awesome for a sports site:
Top image header that leverages the random image module or image swither from Regulus at full height.
Use of the transmenu script
Configurable colour schemes (background/foreground to allow for club colours)
Base page background needs to be light in terms of colour. (readability)
Use of side images down the left &/or right free space.
Readable font (verdana, arial, trebuchet), with well formatted list capabilities
In terms of sports sites as a reference ESPN Soccernet http://www.soccernet.com certainly know how to present truck loads of content, but very good examples of sports sites are http://www.nbl.com.au or this one http://www.arsenal-mania.com/ and http://www.toffeeweb.com/
One last point, something that would really enhance the template is curves in the header or footer to menu transitions. Every template is very square in the transition from Header to menu or main page, or the main page/menu to the footer.
Cheers... and keep up the great work.
